On 21 February 2013 workers in the Gurgaon-Manesar-Bawal industrial belt stayed away from work in support of the two-day national strike called by 11 central trade unions. All four Maruti Suzuki plants – Maruti Udyog, Maruti Suzuki India at Manesar, Suzuki Powertrain at Manesar and Suzuki Motorcycles at Kherki Daula – were shut, along with Hero MotoCorp and numerous ancillary units, and unions from around 27 factories in the belt backed the action. Strikers also demanded the reinstatement of about 2,500 Maruti Manesar workers sacked after the July 2012 violence at the plant.

- 100,000 (estimated)
- Outcome
- Unknown – Firstpost (IANS) reports more than one lakh workers joined the strike in the belt, while India Today expected around 1.5 lakh workers to stay away; the two figures are not reconciled.
