Members of Los Mineros struck Grupo Mexico's San Martin mine at Sombrerete, Zacatecas, on 30 July 2007 over health and safety failures and the company's refusal to recognise the union. Sources describe the strike as legally still in force years later, and the dispute became the first USMCA Rapid Response Labour Mechanism panel case, decided against the United States in May 2024.
