Haft Tappeh sugarcane workers wage arrears and privatisation dispute
Workers at the Haft Tappeh sugarcane complex near Shush in Khuzestan struck repeatedly from January 2018 over months of unpaid wages, loss of insurance and job security, and the reversal of the 2015 privatisation. Security forces detained syndicate members and protesters in November and December 2018; the workers were still on strike and protesting in November 2020.
